American Cancer Society

From The Keene Sentinel (February 20, 2008):

In Keene, NH The Kingsbury Center for Cancer Care received a donation of $125 from BARRY's NORTHEAST CONNECTION Barry Manilow Fan club (based in Keene, NH) which is officially sanctioned by The Barry Manilow International Fan Club (The BMIFC).

Lisa Whitney, the Director of Barry's Northeast Connection BMFC lives in Keene, NH and chose the Kingsbury Center for Cancer Care (KCCC) as the recipient of this money after her mother, received treatment for breast cancer there.

It is a requirement of all officially sanctioned (by the Barry Manilow International Fan Club) Local Barry Manilow Fan Clubs to do fund raising every year for our club's selected charities and KCCC receives a donation from our club every year as a result of our club's fund raising efforts in honor of Barry Manilow.

"I chose to have The Kingsbury Center for Cancer Care as one of our club charities because my mother, Becky Newman (of Keene, NH) is now in her 8th year 'cancer free'," L. Whitney said in a recent email message.

Letter received for our donation to KCCC (2006)

Dear Lisa,

Thank you for your donation from the Barry Manilow Fan Club (BARRY's NORTHEAST CONNECTION BMFC) to the Kingsbury Center for Cancer Care! We believe it is gifts such as yours that help bring meaning and purpose into the lives of donors.

Your very generous gift of $525.00 will help with the Kingsbury Center for Cancer Care expansion project. The construction plans are complete and we have started work on the building foundation. We hope to have the facility complete in January 2007. Through the expansion of the facility, we will continue to ensure all cancer patients who come through our doors receive the best of cancer care in a facility that encourages privacy, support from family and friends, medical excellence and compassion, provided by physicians, nurses and staff who love what they do and know that it matters.

We are a community which takes great pride in caring for our own. Your financial donation helps us continue to make that possible day after day, one patient at a time.

With deep gratitude,

Steven Larmon, MD
Medical Director, KCCC (The Kingsbury Center for Cancer Care )
